Artist Program FAQ's

PROGRAM BASICS

Who is Loom Gardens?

Loom Gardens is transforming how we experience interior spaces with living art installations that turn ordinary walls into breathtaking, plant-flourishing masterpieces. Founded by the belief that beautiful spaces should nourish both body and soul, we've created something entirely new—statement pieces that speak to those who understand that true luxury means never having to choose between stunning design and connection to nature.

What is an Art Garden?

The Art Garden is a stunning wall-mounted canvas that finally elevates plant life to the artistic status it deserves—prioritizing beauty and exquisite design first, with the functionality designed into the frame. Each piece brings a room to life as it evolves daily, with whisper-quiet technology that nurtures 18 thriving plants behind the scenes, creating that perfect finishing touch that designers and collectors immediately recognize as transformative when they walk into a space that truly reflects their sophisticated aesthetic.

Artist Program Basics

What is the Loom Gardens Artist Program?

The Loom Gardens Artist Program is an exclusive opportunity for artists to license their original artwork for reproduction on our premium Art Garden Canvases. This collaboration allows your artistic vision to be showcased on living art installations in homes and spaces across the world, creating a unique medium that evolves and grows over time.

How does the program work?

As an artist, you provide high-resolution original artwork or photographs that meets our technical specifications. Once approved, your artwork becomes available as a canvas option for our Art Garden product. When a customer selects your design for their Art Garden, you receive a royalty payment for each canvas sold featuring your artwork. You retain ownership of your original artwork and earn recurring income through the program.

What makes this different from other licensing opportunities?

Unlike conventional licensing agreements, your artwork becomes part of a living, evolving installation that merges art and nature. Your designs aren't just reproduced on static products—they become the backdrop for a growing garden that changes daily, adding a dynamic dimension to your creative expression. Additionally, our program offers unique exposure to design-conscious collectors and interior designers who value both aesthetic beauty and sustainable living.

Licensing Options and Royalties

What licensing options are available to artists?

We offer two licensing options:

  1. Full exclusivity: where your artwork and any artist-driven reproductions may not be sold or licensed elsewhere during the term. This option pays 25% royalty per Art Garden Canvas sold.
  2. Non-compete: your artwork may be sold elsewhere but not for competing living wall products. This option pays 20% royalty per Art Garden Canvas sold.

How much can I earn through the program?

For each Art Garden Canvas featuring your artwork that is sold, you'll earn either 25% or 20% depending on your selected licensing arrangement. Additionally, we will work with you on a recommended price point for your artwork.

Your artwork plays a significant role in the customer's purchasing decision and we encourage artists to submit multiple art pieces to coincide with seasons.

Do I receive royalties on all Loom Gardens products?

Royalties apply specifically to Art Garden Canvases featuring your artwork. No royalty applies to other Loom Gardens products, including the Art Garden device itself. However, if merchandise featuring your artwork is created for sale, we'll negotiate a separate flat fee in good faith prior to production.

When and how will I get paid?

Royalty payments are made within 30 days after each calendar quarter. You'll receive a detailed report listing quantities of Art Garden Canvases sold featuring your artwork along with your payment, which will be sent by check or electronic transfer to your account.

What if I want to sell additional original artwork through Loom Gardens?

We also offer Gallery Sales through our online portal, where you can sell your original artwork. For these sales, you receive 70% and Loom Gardens receives a 30% commission of the Net Sales Price. We handle the customer transaction while you're responsible for packaging and shipping the artwork directly to the customer.

What benefits do artists receive beyond royalties?

Is there a special launch promotion for artists?

Yes! We're conducting a "Growing Art" contest from program launch until the end of August 2025. The top-selling artist based on highest number of Art Gardens sold featuring their artwork will receive a free Art Garden ($2,499 value). The winner will be featured prominently in marketing materials and receive special designation in the artist portal.

Artwork Requirements

What type of artwork are you looking for?

We seek artwork that complements the elegant, nature-inspired aesthetic of the Art Garden. Your work should resonate with design-conscious homeowners who value beauty and artistic expression. While we welcome diverse styles, artwork that enhances rather than competes with the living elements of the installation tends to perform best.

Are there technical specifications for submitted artwork?

Yes, we require high-resolution artwork that meets our specific technical requirements. Detailed specifications will be provided upon acceptance into the program, but generally, artwork should be:

  • Original and created entirely by you
  • Suitable for reproduction at our canvas sizes (36” W x 24” H)
  • Created without the use of generative artificial intelligence tools
  • Provided in the requested file format and resolution

How many artworks can I submit?

There is no strict limit to how many artworks you can submit for consideration. We encourage you to submit a cohesive collection that showcases your unique artistic vision and style. Our team will work with you to select pieces that best complement the Art Garden experience.

How are artworks selected for the program?

Our curation team reviews all submissions based on aesthetic quality, originality, market appeal, and compatibility with the Art Garden product. We look for artwork that enhances the living elements of the installation and resonates with our target audience of design-conscious homeowners and interior designers.

Legal and Ownership Questions

Who retains ownership of my artwork?

You retain full ownership of your original artwork. You are granting Loom Gardens a license to reproduce your artwork on Art Garden Canvases and for promotional purposes, but you maintain ownership of the intellectual property rights to your work.

What rights am I granting to Loom Gardens?

You grant Loom Gardens a worldwide license to reproduce, distribute, display, and sell your artwork on Art Garden Canvases according to your selected option (full exclusivity or non-compete). You also grant rights to use your artwork in promotional materials, marketing activities, and product configurators. These rights may be sublicensed to Loom Gardens affiliates and production vendors as needed.

Can I continue to sell prints or reproductions of my artwork elsewhere?

This depends on which licensing option you select:

  • Under the full exclusivity, you may not sell or license the specific artwork piece elsewhere during the term of the agreement.
  • Under the non-compete, you may sell the artwork elsewhere, but not for competing living wall or wall décor products.

What is the term of the licensing agreement?

The agreement starts on the effective date and continues for an initial term of one year. It will automatically renew for successive one-year terms unless either party provides written notice of non-renewal at least sixty days before the end of the current term.

What happens if I want to terminate the agreement?

Either party may terminate if the other materially breaches and fails to cure within 30 days after written notice. Upon termination, Loom Gardens will pay all accrued but unpaid royalties within 60 days and will retain the right to sell existing inventory featuring your artwork for a six-month sell-off period.

Program Participation

How do I apply to join the Artist Program?

To apply for the Loom Gardens Artist Program, visit our website at https://partners.loomgardens.com/ and select Artist Program to complete the application form. We will send you the formal Artist Program Agreement where you can include samples of your work or a link to your portfolio for our review. Our curation team will evaluate your submission and contact you regarding the next steps.

Is there an exclusivity requirement?

You can choose between two licensing options: the full exclusivity (higher royalty rate) or the non-compete option that allows you to sell your artwork elsewhere except on competing living wall and wall décor products (lower royalty rate). The choice is yours based on your career goals and marketing strategy.

Can I use images of Art Gardens featuring my work in my portfolio?

Yes, you may use branded images of installed Art Gardens featuring your artwork in your digital and print marketing portfolio materials. This allows you to showcase this unique application of your work to potential clients and collectors.

Do you have audit rights for sales reporting?

Yes, you or your designated representative have the right, upon reasonable prior written notice and no more than once per calendar year, to inspect and audit our books and records directly pertinent to the calculation of royalties payable under the agreement. If an audit reveals an underpayment exceeding five percent for the audited period, we'll reimburse you for the reasonable costs of the audit and promptly pay any underpayment.

Support and Community

Is there a community of Loom Gardens artists?

Yes, we foster a vibrant community of participating artists through our artist portal, showcase events, and collaborative features. The "Artist's Choice" spotlight allows artists to select and promote fellow artists' work, building connections within our creative community. Top-performing artists also have opportunities to participate in design consultations for future Art Garden products.
